Geeky Work Blog
Today was a wonderful sunny day and i was actually feeling fine but when i went for lunch all the lights on the plant went out, the whole site was totally blacked out. i ate my lunch as i knew it was going to be a long afternoon.
The plant was flaring gas, a huge flare,
My Panel was flashing more alarms than i had seen since the lightning struck.
I checked and the fire and gas panel was dead.
Someone on the radio was saying that the Co2 was discharging. Oh Sh*t.
The generators are old second hand( Solar) and with not a nice control system and are not from GE.
Should have spent some money and gotten some good generators from GE. PGT5's
spent 2 hours removing the old Co2 bottles and starting one unit
Then spent 2 more hours getting trhe fire and gas panel running again
Then spent 2 more hours sharing the Co2 bottles between the 2 units and starting the second unit.
Unit 2 tripped on overheating compartments.
We found a hidden ventilation damper that was shut. Oh Sh*t again.
spent 1 more hour starting unit 2 again and then went to bed after blogging said action.
It did make the day go quicker and i did get some good training in for the local engineer. so all was not lost and ni did find a new device i hadn't seen before but it cost them dearly. should buy new equipment for the jungle and not old crap with a crappy control system, a bit like buying a valve radio when you really wated an IPod.
